Why This Programme?
Advance your clinical expertise and step into an extended scope of practice with the MSc Clinical Radiographic Reporting at the University of Hertfordshire. This specialist programme is designed for qualified radiographers seeking to develop advanced competency in image interpretation and reporting, enabling you to play a pivotal role in modern diagnostic pathways.
Through a flexible, modular structure, you can tailor your learning to your needs, with opportunities to specialise in musculoskeletal and chest reporting. The programme is endorsed by the College of Radiographers.
Course Structure:
The course is flexible and modular allowing you to create a programme of study to meet your personal development and career aspirations. To attain a Master’s award, you need to complete 180 credits. There are also Post graduate Diploma and Postgraduate Certificate awards available. Award titles will depend on your choice of pathway and modules.
The rate and pace of study are up to you. You have up to 6 years to complete your master’s course, 4 years for a Post graduate Diploma and 2 years for Postgraduate Certificate awards.

The Clinical Radiographic Reporting pathway is designed for students who want to develop competency in the extended role of clinical radiographic reporting and helps you specialise in this specific area of practice. Medical Imaging and Radiation Science – Medical Ultrasound
The Medical Ultrasound pathway is for professionals who wish to develop competency in the field of ultrasound. Clinical modules are offered in the areas of obstetrics, gynaecology, abdominal and general ultrasound. To apply please visit : MSc Medical Ultrasound
Medical Imaging & Radiation Sciences – Advanced Radiotherapy and Oncology Practice
The Advanced Radiotherapy and Oncology practice pathway specialises in the field of radiotherapeutic practice. Professional Accreditation:
The MSc Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences course is accredited by the College of Radiographers. The Medical ultrasound pathway is accredited by the Consortium for Accreditation of Sonographic Education (CASE).

Because this programme is modular, you only pay per module - making it far more manageable than a conventional postgraduate course. Fees for 2026/27 (UK/EU self-funding students):
15 credit module - £945.00 *
30 credit module - £1890.00 *

Funding
This programme is modular and the fees are payable per module. Some modules are subject to non-standard fees (e.g. ultrasound clinical modules).
Fees will differ for students assessed as Overseas fee payers. Fee assessment decisions follow UKCISA (UK Council for International Student Affairs) guidance, which is based on UK law and government regulations. For NHS employees, the University works with NHS trusts, Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) and Community Education Provider Networks (CEPNs) across the East of England under the Sustainability and Transformation Plans and their Local Workforce Advisory Boards’ transformational frameworks. It is therefore worth checking with the CPD lead for your Trust as part or all of your fees may be covered.
Eligible students may be able to apply for a Postgraduate Student Loan. Please note that to access this funding, you must enrol on the full MSc programme; funding is not available for individual modules or interim awards (for example, a Postgraduate Diploma).
