Course Details
The aims of this module are to enable students to develop the knowledge, understanding, clinical and evaluative skills required to support the competent performance of enhanced, advanced or consultant roles within a defined area of radiotherapy practice.
This module is designed around a work-based learning model. Students will integrate theory and practice by critically reflecting on current issues in enhanced, advanced or consultant level therapeutic radiography in their workplace. They will evaluate research evidence to inform diagnosis and patient management decisions while considering the broader professional aspects of enhanced, advanced or consultant practice. Ongoing guidance from the module leader supports students in becoming reflective, autonomous practitioners.
The module includes supervised clinical practice to develop clinical reasoning and justification skills. Students will also complete independent study to complement their workplace learning.
The module uses an inquiry-based learning approach, where students will explore topics relevant to their specialty by gathering and critically evaluating evidence. This will help solidify their knowledge and ensure safe practice. This module runs over 3 semesters to allow sufficient time for clinical skills to be developed. Formative activities and supportive feedback are integrated throughout to help students develop the skills required for successful completion of the module.
Students will have access to various resources through the virtual learning environment (VLE) and are expected to conduct additional independent research to supplement their learning.
