The Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL)  is a process linked to an award. It involves identifying, assessing and accrediting relevant learning that has been gained through experience (such as employment, work experience, volunteering, or experience as a service user) that can be shown to be comparable to learning within a formal qualification.

APEL recognises that learning gained experientially and skills, knowledge, and understanding gained outside of formal education, are valued as having parity with formal learning processes. This Short Course provides you with the opportunity to have your prior experiential learning assessed and included within your degree as credit towards your award.

Stage One will include a Professional Profile and Curriculum Vitae setting out your experience. A reference from your most recent/current employer and your job description. An initial professional discussion with your APEL tutor who will assess the suitability of your claim for credit.

Stage Two will include Areas of Learning drawn from your professional experience. These form a substantial element of your APEL submission.
