Course overview
An update of the requirements for supervising and assessing non-medical prescribing students.
Topics:
Royal pharmaceutical designated prescribing practitioner competency framework – overview of the competencies and how they can demonstrate achievement of the 8 competencies.
Briefly introduce the Royal Pharmaceutical prescribing competencies (2021) that are a core part of supervised practice to demonstrate their learning and development of prescribing skills. The DPP provides ‘sign-off’ on their competency to prescribe using this framework.
Overview of the practice assessment documents and the roles and responsibilities of the assessor. We will explore how they can support and guide the student in practice.
Overview of the assessments the students need to complete for the module. A more thorough look at the practical assessments the student will complete in supervised practice that the DPP will assess.
Look at how to support students struggling in practice and how and when to get support from the university.
