Course overview
This is a 1 day course aimed at all registered health practitioners who have previously had core fundamental training and are already delivering vaccination services.
Taught by Helen Donovan M.Ed. BSc. RN, RHV, Queen’s Nurse, FRSPH, independent nurse consultant, specialist nurse in vaccination.
As identified in the National minimum standards and the core curriculum for immunisation training, all immunisers should have an annual update.
The National Minimum standards define the education learning and core curriculum for any health care practitioner involved in the delivery of immunisation and vaccination services.
This is the second day of the fundamentals of immunisation course and designed to address any changes to the vaccine programme and give practitioners an opportunity to discuss challenges.
Learning Objectives
The course covers the learning requirements set out in the national minimum standards.
The current UK vaccination schedules.
Current issues in immunisation and changes to the vaccine programme.
Communicating with patients, parents and carers about vaccines.
Managing incomplete and uncertain vaccine histories.
Strategies for optimising immunisation uptake.
Legal issues in immunisation PGDs PSDs.
