Learning Outcomes


By the end of the CPD update, learners should have:

  1. Enhanced knowledge and understanding of the pharmacology of medicines used in musculoskeletal (MSK) injection therapy.
  2. Enhanced knowledge and understanding of current updates from the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (CSP) regarding the regulation and control of medicines in relation to musculoskeletal injection therapy.
  3. Enhanced critical appreciation of contemporary evidence pertinent to injection therapy for upper and lower limb MSK injections.
  4. Be able to demonstrate advanced MSK assessment skills within a clinical reasoning framework to identify and select appropriate structures for injection therapy for the upper and lower limb and perform such injection procedures accurately and safely.

Prerequisites

  1. Current registered Physiotherapist with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) (or equivalent for non-Physiotherapists).
  2. Be able to evidence current appropriate indemnity insurance to practice (Chartered Society of Physiotherapy membership or other appropriate certificate of indemnity). CSP certificates can be located on the CSP Website, at: https://www.csp.org.uk/evidence-professional-liability-insurance
  3. Appropriate and current Hepatitis B immunisation.
  4. Current adult basic life support training (level 2).
